Phacelia is a herbaceous plant with straight-growing stems reaching a height of 50 to 80 centimeters and forming a strong root system. It is an annual plant, well adaptable to different types of soil and climate conditions. It does not require special care for its cultivation.

It grows well in all known soil types without the need for fertilization. It does not require mowing, nor does it require any systematic watering. It is easy to grow and it has the ability to self-seed. Phacelia Tanacetifolia is known for its lush consequential flowering pattern. All these qualities of the plant are highly praised by every beekeeper.

It thrives in all geographical areas of our country. The changes in the climate do not affect it except for the very low winter temperatures.

Phacelia is the most popular for its quality of high honeydew. That is why it is highly valued by beekeepers and honey keepers. According to its norms, around 35 kilograms of quality honey can be produced from only 1 acre of area seeded with Phacelia Tanacetifolia. One acre of crops is sufficient for the capacity of one beehive.

Many people in the beekeeping industry in our country prefer to seed areas with Phacelia Tanacetifolia in rounds. Experienced beekeepers know that in this way they will ensure a longer flowering period of the seeded area, thus longer fertile pasture for the bees.

Phacelia Tanacetifolia begins to bloom in about 40 to 45 days after seeding. It blooms with pale blue and pale purple flowers. Seeding is recommended in the spring from March to May on well-cultivated and deeply plowed soil no matter that Phacelia grows on all types of soils known in our country and at any climate conditions.

The seeds are seeded in rows with a distance of about 20 centimeters between each row, at a depth of 2 to 3 centimeters in the ground. After the seeding, the crops are rolled. It is also allowed to mix the seeding with sand in proportions 1 to 3 and the seeding rate allows you to seed 70 to 125 square meters with 100 grams of Phacelia seeds.

Perhaps the most important feature after the honeydew for Phacelia Tanacetifolia is that this plant has the ability to self-seed annually. This honey plant is also valued for the fact that it adds nutrients to the soil and improves its quality. It also repels pests from the area which helps in protecting other crops grown nearby.
