By adding seeds of peppers for drying variety Buketen, online shop semenata.bg has enriched its catalogue of vegetable plants with another special Bulgarian pepper variety.

The variety is the pride of Bulgarian vegetable growing, presenting it with 10 - 12 cm long, deep red peppers. The special peppers are characterised precisely by their red fringe, which you will have seen in the form of the spice 'red pepper'.

The height of the growing plants is within 40 to 45 centimetres. The number of branches that form is from 2 to 6. In terms of size, the peppers of the Buketten pepper plant are medium-sized, 10 to 12 centimetres long, with a base 2,5 to 4 centimetres wide and a downward taper.

As you may have already guessed, the variety we are talking about is the basic one for making paprika, the spice. A staple spice, it is present in Bulgarian cuisine and flavours various dishes.

The simultaneous ripening of the fruit is of great benefit. This helps to pick them quickly and saves time in general.

The vegetation of the drying peppers lasts from 145 to 150 days. The determining factor in this case is the type of sowing. In this case, the choice consists of three types. The first is for early production, sowing the seeds of Buketen pepper do in the first two weeks of February indoors. The second option is the medium yield, sowing from 1 to 20 March indoors. The third type is late sowing, in the first two weeks of April.

Transplant the seedlings you have prepared outdoors once you are satisfied that the frosts dangerous to young plants have passed. This will ensure that they will not freeze when the weather gets cold. Early spring in May is best for this. This is when consistent positive temperature values are usually established.

Open spaces are preferable for growing the medium-early Bouquette pepper.

As a recommendation from our experts, sow the seeds of the drying peppers as follows - after shaping the beds, leave about 60 centimetres from row to row. Place the young seedlings themselves in the ground about 15 centimetres apart. These approximate values must be respected to obtain good yields.

By leaving the necessary spacing, you provide space for the pepper plants to develop.

Although the main place where we use the bouquet variety is in the production of red pepper, you can find other uses. You can also dry the special peppers in bunches and cook with them if you don't like or can't eat the hot version like the fruits that bear after about 120 days the varietal seeds of Rokita red hot peppers.

Dried Buketen pepper retains a nice deep red colour and can be added to a variety of dishes.
