The online store semenata.bg presents the following product – seeds of white pattypan pumpkin for frying, produced in Italy. This French-type squash is an extravagant and very charming vegetable. In our country these squash plants are still rare, but they are quickly gaining popularity mainly because of their attractive appearance. The variety, grown for early yields, forms small fruits that stand out with their appetising look and pleasant aroma.

You can hardly pass by this variety once you see the fruits. They are round and short, with a very distinctive shape. A characteristic feature of the variety is that the pumpkins are harvested when they reach 6–8 cm in diameter. This size means the fruits are still young and at the perfect stage for picking. Young pattypan squash are especially tender, juicy and delicate. The more they age, the rougher their texture and appearance become. Timely harvesting of the young fruits is important, because if you leave them to grow larger, you risk reducing the overall yield – the newly formed ovaries will not be able to feed properly.

During the vegetation period it is necessary to pick the ready fruits regularly. Every 3–4 days the young squash are harvested, and sometimes even every two days. Regular watering at set intervals is also needed. Moistening the soil is essential, because otherwise the ovaries may drop and the fruits can become tough and fibrous.

These French-type squash can be enjoyed in many ways. You can fry them, boil them, stew them or bake them. Whichever method you choose, you will not go wrong. The fruits are also suitable for freezing. Preserving them in jars is another good option.

This variety is excellent for stuffing, because the shape of the little pumpkins is ideal for the purpose. On the table you will have not only tasty, but also very beautiful squash.

Thanks to their shape, the fruits can be used for arrangement and decoration as well. Their impressive appearance makes them sought after and appreciated by lovers of extravagant vegetable varieties. You can decorate your home garden using the effect of the white pattypan fruits.

Growing these beautiful squash does not differ in any special way from other members of the squash family. No seedlings are prepared in advance. The seeds are sown directly in hills. The layout is as follows, in a chessboard pattern – 140/70 cm. The seeds are placed at a depth of 4–5 cm in the soil. Soil temperature should be a constant positive 12–14°C.

As a crop, this variety is heat-loving, sun-loving and moisture-loving. The plants are not resistant to strong dry winds. Choose a well-drained, rich soil for them.

Hoe and water regularly during the vegetation period. Fertilizing is also especially important – choose suitable fertilizer mixes for productive growth.

Here is an additional English section you can add after the existing text:
If you are aiming for a more creative, gourmet-style garden, this white pattypan variety is a natural centerpiece. The compact plants fit well in small beds and raised planters, and the fruits stand out with their bright, creamy colour against the green foliage. Many gardeners like to place a few hills near the edge of the vegetable patch so the unusual shape of the squash is visible from the path. In mixed plantings, they combine very well with basil, parsley, green onions and bright marigolds, creating both a useful and visually striking corner of the garden.

In the kitchen, white pattypan squash is a wonderful ingredient for lighter, modern dishes. When harvested at the recommended baby size, the fruits are ideal for stuffing with rice, cheese, minced meat or vegetable fillings, then baked until tender. Sliced into thin wedges, they cook quickly in a pan with a little olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs. They also work well on the grill – simply brush with oil, season lightly and sear on both sides until golden. The mild flavour allows the squash to pair easily with Mediterranean spices, fresh tomatoes, yogurt sauces and grilled meats.

Another advantage of this variety is how easily it adapts to your weekly cooking routine. The small fruits can be kept in the refrigerator for several days without losing their texture, which gives you flexibility – you do not have to cook everything on the day of harvest. Many home gardeners like to prepare a larger batch at once: part of the squash is cooked fresh, while the rest is sliced and frozen for quick weekday meals. Because of the uniform size and shape, the pieces freeze and thaw evenly and keep a pleasant bite after cooking.

For families with children or guests who enjoy something a little different on their plates, the white pattypan has a special charm. Its rounded, “flying saucer” shape makes the vegetable easy to present in playful ways – stacked, stuffed, or arranged in colourful platters with carrots, peppers and cherry tomatoes. This makes it easier to introduce more vegetables into the menu without them feeling boring or repetitive. With just one small packet of seeds, you can turn a simple corner of the garden into a source of attractive, versatile and genuinely fun produce for the whole season.
