The characteristic feature of red water onions is the rapid development and growth of the bulbs. You can sow the seed directly at the chosen location. You could also prepare seedlings in advance.

The vegetable products you get are large bulbs, with an appetising reddish colour, slightly elongated in shape. The onions are pleasantly hot, which is actually what makes them so famous and consumed. In their fresh state, onions could be used in salads, for example combined with fresh vegetables. The flavour that red onion adds is distinctive and refreshing.

You could take advantage of the beneficial substances of water lily red onions by making a salad of onions only. By mashing a head of red onion to soften and seasoning with salt, olive oil and vinegar. The delicious salad can be combined with various dishes. Red onions can also be used to arrange main dishes. Make direct sowing of red and water lily onions from late February to early March. For green fresh onions sow the first ten days of September.

If you have prepared pre-seedlings, you could get them outside early in spring March. By then the plants will have strengthened and be ready for transplanting.

For soil conditions, choose light and loose soils. Water-holding soils are not particularly suitable as the bulbs will not be able to grow in them. If the soil retains moisture, the emerging bulbs are likely to rot.

In order to get large and appetising bulbs, you could use fertiliser on the ground. This is a prerequisite for the quality of the future bulbs.You will also increase the yield by using the right fertiliser mixtures applied at the right time.

Lily of the valley onions have a growing season that lasts from 100 to 110 days.
